Automatically counting laps at the 24 hour run in Leuven Once a year, the students of Leuven congregate to run like hell. Teams of students compete against each other in a 24 hour relay race. ULYSSIS is a student organisation that voluntarily provides many IT services for other students, like providing the automatic lap counting system at the 24 hour run, using their own software called i++. This talk will describe how this lap counting system works and describe the dream I have of a cheap user-friendly system using free and open source software, that would enable other organisations to organise similar events. Speaker: Roel Standaert, Track: Lightning Talks, Room: H.2215 (Ferrer), When: Saturday 3 February 2018, 15:20–15:35 (Brussels time), Schedule: FOSDEM 2018 event page, Slides & links ULYSSIS, i++ GitHub repository, 24 hour run website (in Dutch), 10 hour run in Antwerp (in Dutch), lap counting system also provided by ULYSSIS, Licence: Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Belgium (CC BY 2.0 BE) (as stated in the FOSDEM video archive). Attribution: “i++: run your FOSS off” by Roel Standaert, FOSDEM 2018. Original recording: 2018/H.2215/leuven_run.webm from the FOSDEM video archive. This channel is an unofficial mirror; FOSDEM is a free and non-commercial event organised by the community for the community.
